Don't try to be clever using inline assembly instructions, there is absolutely no reason to. It is naive to think that substituting good C code for some assembly instructions just to possibly gain a few clock cycles of performance is a good idea. As Salem stated, if the compiler does not inline those functions, your code will blowup.
